UNESCO Designates Mumbai & Hyderabad as Member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) On Occasion of World Cities Day
- UNESCO has designated Mumbai as a member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of Film.
- Hyderabad has also been included in this network in the field of Gastronomy.
- Created in 2004, UCCN is a network of cities which are thriving, active centres of cultural activities in their respective countries.
- The UNESCO Creative Cities Network now has a total of 246 cities.
- The cities in the list are included based on 7 categories namely:
- Crafts and Folk Arts
- Design
- Film
- Gastronomy
- Music
- Media Arts
- Literature
- This list also includes Indian cities like Chennai and Varanasi for music while Jaipur for Crafts and Folk Arts.
