Umesh Sinha appointed as Deputy Election Commissioner

The Union Government has appointed Umesh Sinha as the deputy election commissioner in the Election Commission of India.
Sinha, a 1986-batch IAS officer (retired) of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was the secretary general in the commission prior to this.
He has been appointed on contract basis for a period of six months from January 01, 2021 to June 30, 2021.
With this, the ECI now has 4 deputy election commissioners. The other three are Sudeep Jain, Chandra Bhushan Kumar, and Ashish Kundra.
