- The state government of Odisha has decided to hike the number of target beneficiaries by five-fold for farmers’ welfare scheme KALIA in the landless agricultural household category.
- As per the new proposal, 5 lakh beneficiaries would be targeted instead of 1 lakh earlier during 2019-20.
- Each beneficiary household under the landless agricultural category will get Rs 12,500 as assistance under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
- The amount would be paid in three tranches.
- KALIA scheme has five components such as:
- support to cultivators for cultivation,
- livelihood support for landless agricultural labourers,
- life insurance support for cultivators and landless agricultural labourers,
- financial assistance to vulnerable agricultural households and
- interest free crop loan.
