Maharashtra Top state in delivering justice to its citizens: Report

Maharashtra has been ranked first among 18 large states in the first ever ranking of states on their capacity to deliver justice to citizens.
The ‘India Justice Report (IJR) 2019’ was published by the Tata Trusts in collaboration with Centre for Social Justice, Common Cause, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, DAKSH, TISS-Prayas Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy.
Maharashtra was followed by Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana in the index.
Among the seven small states (population less than one crore each), Goa topped the list followed by Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh.
The India Justice Report is based on four pillars to rank the states on the basis of justice delivery namely police, judiciary, prisons and legal aid.
