IOA and FIH Head Narinder Batra Elected IOC member

Narinder Batra, President of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has been elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on June 26, 2019 during the IOC Session in Laussane.
Batra, who is also the President of International Hockey Federation (FIH), is the only Indian to be elected as the member of IOC with rare distinction of heading a National Olympic Committee as well as an international federation.
The number of Indians who are currently active members of IOC will now rise to 2.
Other than Batra, Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani is the only other member of the IOC who was elected in 2016. She is the first Indian woman to be elected to the prestigious seat.
