International Migrants Day: 18 December
- The International Migrants Day is observed on 18 December every year to commemorate:
- the benefits and contributions, migrants offer their host communities;
- draw attention to the particular challenges they face and
- the need to promote and protect the rights of all migrants
- The day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, which was adopted by the United Nations (UN) on 18 December 1990.
- The theme of International Migrants Day 2020 is ‘Reimagining Human Mobility’.
