India’s Second and South India’s First Kisan Rail flagged off from Andhra’s Anantapur to Delhi

  • The second ‘Kisan Rail’ in India and the first from the South India region was inaugurated on 9 September 2020 from Anantapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh to the national capital New Delhi.
  • The Kisan Rail was flagged off by the Union Minister for Agriculture Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy via a video link from New Delhi and Amaravati respectively.
  • The train containing 14 parcel vans carrying 322 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables will cover a distance of 2,150 km in 40 hours.
  • The first Kisan Rail carrying perishable goods was flagged off between Devlali in Maharashtra and Danapur in Bihar on 7 August 2020.
