Indian Railways to launch third corporate passenger train Kashi Mahakal Express on Varanasi-Indore Route

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Indian Railways’ third corporate passenger train named Kashi Mahakal Express on 16th February 2020.
  • The train will be run by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) between Varanasi and Indore, connecting religious places of the two states.
  • The commercial operation of the train will begin from 20th February 2020.
  • The superfast fully air-conditioned passenger train is the first overnight private train in the country.
  • It will connect three Jyotirlinga named Omkareshwar (Near Indore),  Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain) and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi).
  • The train will operate thrice a week between Varanasi and Indore, once via Prayagraj (Allahabad) and twice via Lucknow, in approximately 19 hours. .
