Indian Grand Master Koneru Humpy wins 2020 Cairns Cup Chess Tournament in USA
- World rapid champion Koneru Humpy claimed the first place in the second edition of Cairns Cup Chess Tournament to takes home $45,000.
- The tournament was held at the Saint Louis Chess Club in USA from 7-16 February 2020.
- Koneru won the championship following a draw against fellow grandmaster Dronavalli Harika in the ninth and final round, to finish the tournament with 6 points.
- Reigning world champion Ju Wenjun finished at the second spot with 5.5 points while Russia’s Alexandra Kosteniuk came third with 5 points.
