India Formally Receives First Rafale Fighter Jet From France

The first India specific Rafale fighter jet was symbolically handed over to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Bordeaux, France.
Raksha Mantri is in France for a two-day official visit from October 8-9, 2019 for bilateral talk with President of the French Republic, Mr Emmanuel Macron.
Rajnath Singh has also become the first Indian minister to undertake sortie onboard Rafale, the state-of-the-art medium multi role combat aircraft.
In September 2016, India exchanged Rs 59,000 crore deal with France for 36 Rafale fighter jets.
All 36 jets are expected to arrive in India by September 2022 and the first batch of four Rafale jets will fly to their home base in India by May 2020.
