Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates Col. Chewang Rinchen Setu in Ladakh

  • The Defence Minister of India Shri Rajnath Singh dedicated to nation the Col Chewang Rinchan Setu (Bridge), constructed in the forward area of Ladakh region, on October 21, 2019.
  • The bridge has been constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across the Shyok River.
  • It has been built on the strategically important road Durbuk Shyok Daulat Beg Oldie in sub sector north in eastern Ladakh at an altitude of 14,650 feet.
  • The bridge has been named in honor of Colonel Chewang Rinchan who was one of the highly decorated officer in the Indian Army from Ladakh and was awarded the Maha Vir Chakara twice.

United Nations WFP launches ‘Feed Our Future’ cinema ad campaign

  • The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a cinema advertisement campaign titled ‘Feed Our Future’.

  • Issue Price for applying online: Rs 3,785 (discount of Rs 50)
  • Interest Rate: 4%

  • Sultan of Johor Cup is an international men’s under–21 field hockey tournament.
  • The 2019 Sultan of Johor Cup was the ninth edition of the tournament.

Kuhoo-Dhruv pair wins Egypt International mixed doubles title (Badminton)

  • Kuhoo Garg and Dhruv Rawat have won the mixed doubles title at the Egypt International 2019 (Badminton) in Cairo in an all Indian final against Utkarsh Arora and Karishma Wadkar.
  • Kuhoo Garg, however, failed to win the women’s double finals with her partner Sanyogita Ghorpade and they lost in the finals.
