- ILO is a unique agency of the United Nations Organization (UNO) that sets international labour standards and promotes social protection and work opportunities for all.
- It is tripartite in nature and works on the principal of collaboration among government, employers and workers.
- The organisation was formed on 29 October 1919. India is one of the founding member of the organisation.
- In 2019, the International Labour Organization celebrates its 100th anniversary.
- The ILO has 187 member states comprising 186 of the 193 UN member states plus the Cook Islands
