India Organised ILO Centenary Celebrations at Noida

  • Union Minister of State (I/C) for Labour and Employment Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated the International Labour Organization (ILO) centenary celebrations in India at V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida on February 8, 2019.
  • ILO is a unique agency of the United Nations Organization (UNO) that sets international labour standards and promotes social protection and work opportunities for all.
  • It is tripartite in nature and works on the principal of collaboration among government, employers and workers.
  • The organisation was formed on 29 October 1919. India is one of the founding member of the organisation.
  • In 2019, the International Labour Organization celebrates its 100th anniversary. 
  • The ILO has 187 member states comprising 186 of the 193 UN member states plus the Cook Islands
