Narendra Modi Launches Various Development Projects in Haryana

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kurukshetra in Haryana to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several development projects. Some of the projects launched includes:
  • 700 bed state-of-the-art National Cancer Institute at Bhadsa in Jhajjar district.
  • 510-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation’s (ESIC) medical college and hospital in Faridabad.
  • He also gave away Swachh Shakti awards to woman sarpanches from across the country in Swach Shakti 2019 programme. 

Nitin Gadkari Launches Road & River Projects in Bihar

  • The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, was on a day long visit to East Champaran and West Champaran districts of Bihar on February 11.
  • The minister launched several roadways and waterways development projects in the state.
  • In West Champaran, Gadkari inaugurated projects worth Rs 366.62 crore 
  • In East Champaran, projects worth Rs 505 crore were launched.

Swachh Shakti-2019 Held in Kurukshetra, Haryana

  • The third edition of the Swachh Shakti-2019 was inaugurated in Kurukshetra, Haryana by PM Modi on February 12.
  • PM also distributed the Swachh Shakti-2019 awards.
  • Swachh Shakti-2019 is a national event to highlight the leadership role played by rural women in Swachh Bharat Mission. 
  • The event was organised by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in association with the Govt. of Haryana

Krishi Kumbh 2019 Held at Motihari in Bihar

  • The 3 day long Krishi Kumbh 2019 was organised in Motihari, Bhar from February 9-11, 2019.
  • The event was jointly inaugurated by the state Governor Lalji Tandon and Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
  • The objective of Krishi Kumbh is to promote modern techniques and diversification in agriculture that could help in doubling farmers income. 

First LAWASIA Human Rights Conference Held in New Delhi

  • The inaugural LAWASIA Human Rights Conference 2019 was held in New Delhi on February 9-10, 2019.
  • The theme of the 2019 event was “State Power, Business and Human Rights: Contemporary Challenges”,
  • It was organised by LAWASIA in association with the Bar Association of India.

International Dam Safety Conference 2019 to Be Held in Bhubaneswar

  • The 5th edition of the International Dam Safety Conference 2019 will be held in Bhubaneswar on 13 and 14 February 2019.
  • The event is a joint initiative of the Government of India, Government of Odisha and the World Bank.
  • The event provides a platform for non-DRIP States as well as other stakeholders across the Country and World to encounter the best global practices and technological advancements to address the emerging dam safety challenges. 

Asia’s largest early Childhood Conference – Early Ed Asia 2019 started in Jaipur

  • The two day conference of Early Ed Asia 2019 has started in Jaipur, Rajasthan on February 12, 2019.
  • This is Asia’s largest conference on Early Childhood

Indian Historian Sanjay Subrahmanyam Wins Israel’s Dan David Prize

  • Noted Indian historian Sanjay Subrahmanyam was honored with the Israel’s prestigious Dan David Prize 2019 in the category of ”past time dimension” for his work on inter-cultural encounters between Asians, Europeans and people of North and South America during the early modern era.
  • He shares the USD 1 million award in this category with Prof Kenneth Pomeranz of University of Chicago.

Former England Footballer Gordon Banks passed away

  • Gordon Banks who was a former football player from England passed away at the age of 81 years.
  • He was the goalkeeper in the England Football team that won the 1966 FIFA World Cup .

International Day of Women and Girls in Science: February 11

  • The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on 11 February every year.
  • The 2019 theme of the Day is “Investment in Women and Girls for Inclusive Green Growth”.
