Zoran Milanovic Wins Croatia’s Presidential Election
- On 5 January 2020, Croatia elected Zoran Milanovic as the 5th President of the country, defeating incumbent president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
- The 53-year-old Milanovic took 52.7 percent of the vote, while incumbent President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic garnered 47.3 percent.
- Milanovic is due to take office on 19 February 2020.
- Before this, he had served as leftist Prime Minister of Croatia from December 2011 to January 2016.
