Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev wins second 5-year term
- Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the incumbent President of Uzbekistan has been re-elected for a second five-year term, after he won with landslide victory in 2021 Presidential election held on October 24, 2021.
- The 64-year -old won 80.1% of the total vote.
- Mirziyoyev took the office of President in 2016 following the death of longtime President Islam Karimov,
- Prior to being appointed as the President, Mirziyoyev served as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan from 2003 to 2016.
