Uttarakhand Government Launches ‘Vatsalya Yojana’ for Children Orphaned due to Covid

  • Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has launched a scheme called ‘Chief Minister Vatsalya Yojana’ for children who lost their parents due to Covid-19.
  • Under the scheme, arrangements will be made for maintenance, education and training for employment of these orphan kids of the state up to the age of 21 years.
  • Such orphaned children will be given a maintenance allowance of Rs. 3000 per month.
  • Besides, laws will also me made for the paternal property of these orphans in which no one will have the right to sell their paternal property until they are adults.
  • This responsibility will be with the District Magistrate of the concerned district.
  • Additionally, these kids will be provided with 5% horizontal reservation in Uttarakhand government jobs.
