US President-elect Joe Biden announces 12 member task force to deal with COVID-19; Indian-origin former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to co-chair group
- US President-elect Joe Biden has formed a 12-member coronavirus task force to formulate a blueprint for containing the coronavirus disease that has infected millions and damaged the US economy.
- The task force will be headed by three co-chairs, which includes, former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner David Kessler and Marcella Nunez-Smith, a professor of public health at Yale University.

- Vivek Murthy is an Indian-American physician, whose family hails from Karnataka.
- The 43-year old received his Bachelor’s degree from Havard University and pursued MD and MBA from Yale University.
- He served as the 19th US Surgeon General under Batack Obama’s administration from 2014-17.
