  • Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur has been appointed as Captain in the Territorial Army on March 10, 2021.
  • Thakur has been promoted to the rank of Captain at 124 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army (Sikh).
  • Earlier, he was commissioned into the Territorial Army as a Lieutenant in July 2016, by then Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Dalbir S Suhag TA.
  • Thakur is the first serving Member of Parliament (MP) to become a regular commissioned officer in the Territorial Army.
  • Thakur is a four-time BJP MP from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.
