Vanijya Saptah being celebrated by Ministry of Commerce from 20-26 September
- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is observing ‘Vanijya Saptah’ (Trade & Commerce Week) from September 20-26, 2021, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav commemoration.
- During the week long celebration, the ministry will organise a slew of programmes and events across the country to showcase India as a Rising Economic Force and Green & Swachh SEZs
- The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) will also organise exporter conclaves and meets covering all 739 districts across the country with State governments as a part of the celebration..
PFRDA to observe NPS Diwas on October 01, 2021
- Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) will observe October 01, 2021 as the National Pension System Diwas (NPS Diwas).
- This campaign has been started by PFRDA under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to promote pension and retirement planning for a carefree ‘azad’ retirement. PFRDA is promoting this campaign on its social media platforms with #npsdiwas.
- PFRDA is the regulatory body for NPS.

Government sets up India Debt Resolution Company Ltd (IDRCL) for managing bad loans
- The government has set up an asset management company (AMC) named India Debt Resolution Company Ltd (IDRCL) with a paid-up capital of Rs. 80.5 lakh on an authorized capital of Rs 50 crore.
- IDRCL will work in tandem with the National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL) to clean up bad loans.
- Bank of Baroda (BoB), Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bank of India (BoI), Bank of Maharashtra, SBI, Union Bank of India, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and IDBI Bank are the shareholders of IDRCL.
- IDRCL is a service company/operational entity which will manage the asset and engage market professionals and turnaround experts. Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Public FIs will hold a maximum of 49% stake while the remaining stake will be with private sector lenders.
- It must be noted that last week, the government had cleared a guarantee of Rs. 30,600 crore for security receipts issued by NARCL.

President Ram Nath Kovind to confer National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for 2019-20 to 42 Awardees
- The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind will confer the National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for the year 2019-20 through videoconferencing from Rashtrapati Bhawan on 24 September 2021.
- The 2019-20 NSS Award will be given to 42 awardees in three different categories which are:
- University/(+2) Councils
- NSS Units and their Programme Officers
- NSS Volunteers
- Inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS was launched in the year 1969, as a Central Sector Scheme, to develop the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service.
- The NSS Award is conferred every year by the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, to recognize and reward outstanding contributions towards voluntary community service such as literacy and education, health, family welfare and nutrition, environment conservation, social service programmes, rescue and relief during calamities.
Former UN-Under Secretary General Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka bags 2021 Global Goalkeeper Award of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
- The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced its annual Goalkeepers ‘Global Goals Awards’ 2021, on September 20, 2021, as part of its annual Goalkeepers campaign.
- The award were given in following categories:
- The 2021 Global Goalkeeper Award : Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, former United Nations under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women.
- The 2021 Changemaker Award : Fairooz Faizah Beether from Bangladesh, for her work promoting good health and wellbeing
- The 2021 Progress Award : Jenifer Colpas from Colombia, for her work which centres around improving access to clean water and sanitation
- The 2021 Campaign Award : Satta Sheriff of Liberia, for her work promoting gender equality

Pankaj Advani wins 6Reds Snooker World Cup 2021
- Ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani defeated Babar Masih of Pakistan to clinch the IBSF 6-Red Snooker World Cup 2021 final, held in Doha, Qatar on September 21, 2021.
- This is the 24th world title for the 36-year-old Advani.
- It is also his second back to back major International championships win in a week.
- Last week he won Asian Snooker Championship 2021 by defeating Amir Sarkhosh of Iran.

Chetan Bhagat releases cover of his upcoming book ‘400 Days’
- Chetan Bhagat will release his new novel titled ‘400 Days’ on October 08, 2021. He has released the cover for the same.
- It is the third novel in the Keshav-Saurabh series, after ‘The Girl in Room 105’ and ‘One Arranged Murder’.
- The novel is a tale of suspense, human relationships, love, friendship, the crazy world we live in and, above all, a mother’s determination to never give up.
Obituary
Former Arunachal Governor YS Dadwal passes away at 70
- Former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Commissioner of Delhi Police, Yudhvir Singh Dadwal, has passed away. He was 70.
- Dadwal, a 1974-batch IPS officer, was the 16th police commissioner of Delhi from July 2007 to November 2010.
- After retirement, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Central Paramilitary Force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in November 2010.
- In 2016, Dadwal was appointed as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
