PM Modi Receives First Copy Of ‘The Ramayana Of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’ written by Late Baljit Kaur Tulsi

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the first copy of the book titled ‘The Ramayan of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’ authored by Late Baljit Kaur Tulsi.
  • The author is the mother of Rajya Sabha MP and noted lawyer Shri KTS Tulsi Ji.
  • The book has been published by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.
  • Guru Gobind Singh was the tenth and last of Sikh gurus in human form. He was born in Patna in 1666.
  • He was a spiritual master, warrior, poet, and philosopher, who was enthroned at the ‘Guru Gaddi’ at the age of 9 after his father Guru Tej Bahadur Ji, the 9th Guru.

Abiy Ahmed Wins Second Five-Year Term as Prime Minister of Ethiopia

  • Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has won a second five-year term in office, after his ruling ‘Prosperity Party’ won the country’s parliamentary election in landslide victory.
  • The Prosperity Party won 410 seats from 436 parliamentary electoral constituencies at the general elections in June 21, 2021.
  • Abiy Ahmed is serving as the 4th Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia since 2 April 2018.

Hyderabad-based Social Activist Syed Osman Azhar Maqsusi Wins UK Government’s Point of Light Award

  • Syed Osman Azhar Maqsusi, a hunger activist from Hyderabad has won the prestigious Commonwealth Points of Light award.
  • The Point of Light award is presented by the British government to recognise the outstanding individuals from the British Commonwealth countries who are making a change in their communities.
  • The 41-year-old Maqsusi was honoured for his pathbreaking initiave called ‘Hunger has no religion’ through which he feeds around 1,500 people every day. The campaign was launched in 2011.

2022 Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Haryana

  • The state government of Haryana will organise the Khelo India Youth Games 2021 in February 2022.
  • Earlier the sports show was scheduled to be held from November 21 to December 5, 2021, but has been shifted due to the possible third wave of Covid-19 pandemic and keeping in mind that Khelo India Youth Games 2021 are to be held in the Under-18 category.
  • Around 8,500 players will participate in the event of which 5,072 will be athletes, including 2,400 females and 2,672 males.

England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Devon Conway of New Zealand win ICC Player of the Month Award for June

  • England Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone has been named as ICC Women Player of the Month for June.
  • She is the second English female to win the title after Tammy Beaumont, who was awarded the title in February 2021.
  • In Men’s category,  New Zealand opener Devon Conway has bagged ICC Player of the Month for June.
  • He is the maiden New Zealand player to win the award.

Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah announces surprise retirement from Test Cricket

  • Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Mahmudullah Riyad has announced his retirement from Test cricket, while he was playing at the ongoing one-off game against Zimbabwe.
  • The decision of Mahmudullah to leave the Test game mid way, has been criticized by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan
  • He decided to stop playing Test cricket, after the end of the third day’s play of the ongoing one-off Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
