- The Olympic bronze medal-winning Indian hockey player Rupinder Pal Singh has announced his retirement from international hockey with immediate effect on September 30, 2021 to make way for young and talented players.
- The 30-year-old Rupinder represented Indian hockey team in 223 matches in his 13 years hockey career.
- Rupinder was part of the Indian hockey team that won bronze medal in the 2020 Summer Tokyo Olympics, held in July – August 2021.
