Tamil drama film Koozhangal is India’s official entry for Oscars 2022

The Tamil-language drama film Koozhangal (internationally translated as Pebbles), has been selected as India’s official entry for the 94th Academy Awards (Oscars 2022).
The film has been directed by filmmaker Vinothraj PS and produced by Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara.
The 94th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, on March 27, 2022.
Some key facts about Indian films at Oscar
- No Indian film has yet won an Oscar.
- In 2021, India’s official entry to Oscars was the Malayalam feature Jallikattu, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery.
- Till date only three Indian film have made it to the top five in the best international feature category including Lagaan in 2001, Mother India (1958) and Salaam Bombay (1989).
