Sonia Gandhi Re-Elected As Chief of Congress Parliamentary Party
- Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance (UPA), has been elected as the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party on June 1, 2019 at a meeting of the newly-elected Congress Lok Sabha MPs in New Delhi.
- Her name was proposed by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh
- Ms. Gandhi will now have to pick the party’s floor leader in the Lok Sabha.
- The floor leader sets the agenda for his party in the House, decides its parliamentary strategy and coordinates with other Opposition parties and the government on behalf of his party.
