Shuttlers PV Sindhu & Michelle Li named Athlete Ambassadors for IOC’s ‘Believe in Sports’ campaign

  • The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has nominated Indian shuttler PV Sindhu and Michelle Li of Canada as athlete ambassadors for the ‘Believe in Sport’ campaign, launched by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
  • The campaign is aimed at preventing any form of cheating, competition manipulation or match-fixing, which influences the course or the result of a match in order to obtain an advantage for the individual or others.
  • The campaign was launched in 2018 by IOC to raise awareness among athletes, coaches and officials of the threat of competition manipulation.
  • The two champion shuttlers will be working with others nominated for the same cause, raising awareness among athletes through online webinars and social media messages to highlight the risks involved and educate them on how best to safeguard and protect themselves in light of opportunities to manipulate their competition.
