- The Supreme Court on January 25, 2019 upheld the constitutional validity of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.
- A bench headed by Justice R F Nariman said that the bench has upheld the constitutional validity “in its entirety”. The bench consisted of Navin Sinha apart from Justice Nariman.
- IBC: IBC aims at consolidating all existing insolvency related laws as well as amending
multiple legislation including the Companies Act. National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) is the adjudicating authority for companies and limited liability partnerships. The Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) is the adjudicating authority for individuals and partnership firms.
