S. Jaishankar Chairs IBSA Foreign Ministers’ Virtual Meeting
- The IBSA Foreign Ministers customary meeting was held through video conferencing on 16th September, 2020.
- The Union Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, Shri S. Jaishankar chaired the meeting.
- South Africa was represented by FM Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor and Brazil by FM Ambassador Fabio Marzano.
- During the meeting, the group issued a joint statement calling for ‘accelerated and comprehensive reforms’ of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), expressing frustration with the slow pace of progress on Council’s reforms in the Inter-Governmental Negotiations process which lacks transparency in its working methods.
- IBSA is a Forum of three countries including India, Brazil and South Africa.
