Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez wins 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics
- The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics on 6th October 2020.
- One half of the award has been given to Roger Penrose for black hole discovery; and the other half jointly to Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez.
- UK’s Roger Penrose has been awarded “for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity”
- America’s Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez have jointly won “for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy.
