- Rishi Kumar Shukla has been appointed the new chief/Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a tenure of two years.
- Earlier he was the chief of Madhya Pradesh police.
- He has been appointed in place of Alok Kumar Verma, who was removed from the post of CBI Director on January 10. M Nageswara Rao was the interim cheif in this period.
- The appointment comes after two meeting of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led selection committee held on January 24 and February 1.
