RBI Constitutes Task Force on the Development of Secondary Market for Corporate Loans

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has constituted a six member Task Force on the Development of Secondary Market for Corporate Loans to bring in place a well-developed secondary market for debt for transparent price discovery of the inherent riskiness of the debt being traded.
  • The committee will be chaired by Shri T. N. Manoharan, Chairman, Canara Bank.
  • The task force will review the existing state of the market for loan sale/transfer in India as well as the international experience in loan trading and shall submit its report by the end of August 2019.

Other members of the committee includes:

  1. Shri V. G. Kannan – Chief Executive, Indian Banks’ Association
  2. Shri Bahram Vakil – Founding Partner, AZB and Partners
  3. Dr. Anand Srinivasan – Additional Director (Research), CAFRAL
  4. Dr. Sajjid Z. Chinoy – Chief India Economist, J P Morgan
  5. Shri Abizer Diwanji – Head – Restructuring & Turnaround Services, EY India
