Pramod Chandra Mody gets six-month extension as CBDT Chairman
- The tenure of the incumbent Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Pramod Chandra Mody, has been extended for a period of 6-months, by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
- His tenure was ending on 31 August 2020. This is his second extension.
- His extended term will be effective from 01 September 2020 to 28 February 2021.
- PC Mody, a 1982 batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre) officer, was appointed as the CBDT chief in February 2019 for six months till August 31, 2019.
- In August 2019, he was re-appointed on the post for one year, till August 31, 2020.
About CBDT: The CBDT frames policy for the Income-Tax Department. It is headed by a Chairman. There can be a maximum of six members on the CBDT board.
