- Poonam Khetrapal Singh has been appointed as the Regional Director of the South-East Asia region of the World Health Organization (WHO) for a second five-year term.
- The WHO Executive Board unanimously re-appointed Khetrapal Singh on January 26 after she was unanimously nominated by 11 member-countries of the region for another five years.
- She is the first woman to become Regional Director of WHO South-East Asia Region.
