- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched One Nation, One Card for transport mobility at a function in Ahmedabad on March 04, 2019.
- The One Nation One Card model aims for payments across all segments including metro, bus, suburban railways, toll, parking, smart city and retail across the country using this single card.
- This payment eco-system is India’s First Indigenously Developed Payment system for transport. It has three parts;
- First is the Card: National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is the first of its kind in India. Developed by NPCI in collaboration with CDAC.
- Second is the Fare Collection Software: SWEEKAR – Swachalit Kiraya: Automatic Fare Collection System
- The third is the SWAGAT (Swachalit Gate). Developed by BEL. This is the first gate and the reader which has been manufactured by an Indian company.
- The ministry responsible for this development is the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
