- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the local airport in Jharsuguda, Odisha under the UDAN Scheme.
- The Jharsuguda Airport is the second operational airport in the state after the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar to serve the needs of the people of the state.
- The airport would act as a junction for neighbouring Raipur and Ranchi and strengthen connectivity.
