PM Modi Dedicates National War Memorial to the Nation

  • The newly built National War Memorial was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25. It is situated near India Gate in New Delhi.
  • The memorial honours more than 25 thousand soldiers who have laid down their lives in the service of the country since Independence. 
  • The Memorial layout consists of four concentric circles which includes Amar Chakra (Circle of Immortality), Veerta Chakra (Circle of Bravery), Tyag Chakra (Circle of Sacrifice), and Rakshak Chakra (Circle of Protection).
  • Names of 25,942 have been inscribed at the walls of the memorial and Busts of the 21 awardees of Param Veer Chakra have been installed at Param Yoddha Sthal.
  • The memorial has been built at a cost of Rs 176 crore.
