Nirmala Sitharaman Among Forbes List of World’s 100 most powerful women in 2019; Angela Merkel Tops
- India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been named among the Forbes 2019 list of ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’. She has been ranked at 34th position.
- Sitharaman is India’s first female finance minister to hold the portfolio on full time basis.
- Along with Sitharaman, HCL Corporation CEO and Executive Director Roshni Nadar Malhotra (54) and Biocon Founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (65) are also in the top 100 list.
- The Forbes 2019 list of ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ has been topped by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
- President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde is on second spot.
- Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi is ranked third.
