Mumbai-based NGO Pratham wins Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace for 2021

  • Pratham, Mumbai-based civil society organization, has been conferred with the prestigious Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2021 by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.
  • Pratham is among India’s largest NGOs working to improve education quality for underprivileged children across the world.
  • “Pratham has been honoured for its pioneering work of over more than a quarter century in seeking to ensure that every child has access to quality education, for its innovative use of digital technology to deliver education, for its programmes to provide skills to young adults, for its regular evaluation of the quality of education, and for its timely response in enabling children to learn during the COVID-19 related school closures”.

Indira Gandhi Peace Prize

  • The Indira Gandhi Peace Prize is given to individuals or organisations since 1986 by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.
  • The award recognise work towards ensuring international peace and development, ensuring that scientific discoveries are used to further the scope of freedom and better humanity, and creating new international economic order.
  • The award comes a cash award of Rs 25 lakh and a citation.
