Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Launches ‘Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan’ (SUMAN) Scheme for Pregnant Women
- The 13th Conference of Central Council of Health and Family Welfare was held in New Delhi on October 10, 2019.
- As a part of the event, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan launched Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) initiative.
- Under the SUMAN initiative pregnant women, mothers up to 6 months after delivery, and all sick newborns will be given free healthcare benefits in all public health facilities.
- The purpose of the scheme is to bring down maternal and infant mortality rates in the country.
