• Marcell Jacobs of Italy has claimed the men’s 100 metres gold title at the Tokyo Olympics on August 01, 2021, becoming the first Italian to take the most coveted title in athletics.
• The 26-year-old Jacob achieved the feat in 9.80 seconds.
• Fred Kerley of United States won the silver in 9.84 seconds while Andre de Grasse of Canada took the bronze in 9.89 seconds.
• In Women’s category, Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica won the women’s 100 metres title in 10.61 seconds.
• Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (10.74) of Jamaica took the silver and Shericka Jackson (10.76) of Jamaica won the bronze medal.
