Malayalam poet Akkitham wins Jnanpith Award 2019
- Malayalam poet Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri has won the Jnanpith Award 2019. He is popularly known by the name “Akkitham”.
- He is the sixth literary personality from Kerala to achieve the Jnanpith Award. This was the 55th edition of the award.
- Arkham has published more than 45 books based on poetry, anthologies, plays and short stories.
About Jnanpith Award: The Jnanpith Award is an Indian literary award presented annually by the Bharatiya Jnanpith to an author for their “outstanding contribution towards literature”.
