Maharashtra Government to Set up Swachh Bharat World University in Wardha

• The government of Maharashtra has decided to set up ‘Swachh Bharat World University’ in Wardha in Vidarbha region near Nagpur, that will focus on research studies in sanitation, cleanliness and environment.
• The proposed University will be a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary and also comply with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government’s Swachh Bharat mission programme aimed at improving cleanliness and sanitation on a nationwide scale.
• A seven-member committee has been set up by the state government under the Minister of Education Vinod Tawde to conduct a study on the requirements of the University, including land, basic infrastructure and manpower and submit a report in two months.
