London School of Economics Names Chair after Amartya Sen
- The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) has created a new academic position in honor of India-born philosopher and economist Amartya Sen, called as Amartya Sen Chair in Inequality Studies.
- The holder of the position will also serve as Director of the LSE International Inequalities Institute, which facilitates interdisciplinary work on subjects related to inequality.
- The Nobel laureate Sen won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1998. He served as a professor in the economics department at the LSE institute from 1971-82.
