K K Venugopal & Tushar Mehta re-appointed as Attorney General and Solicitor General of India respectively
- President of India has re-appointed senior advocate Shri K K Venugopal as the Attorney General for India for a period of one year with effect from 01 July 2020.
- The present three-year term of Venugopal, 89, ended on 30 June 2020.
- Venugopal took over as the Attorney General on June 30, 2017, succeeding Mukul Rohatgi.
- Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also reappointed senior advocate Tushar Mehta as Solicitor General of India with effect from July 1 for a period of three years or until further orders.
