All about Pulwama attack
The Pulwama terror attack occurred on February 14, 2019 near at Lethipora near Avantipora town (District Pulwama).
A convoy of 78 vehicles of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans was moving from from Jammu to Srinagar. There were around 2547 CRPF jawans in the convoy. The attack took place on one of the vehicle of this convoy.
What actually happened in the Pulwama attack
A Mahindra Scorpio SUV that was packed with around 350 kilograms of explosives plunged into one of the buses of this 78 convoy vehicle.
The attack was made on the 76th Battalion of the convoy. The bus on which the attack was made blew up instantly killing at least 40 CRPF personnel. Many other are battling for their lives. The injured jawans in the Pulwama attack were moved to the army base hospital in Srinagar.

Who carried out the Pulwama attack
Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has claimed the responsibility for this Pulwama attack. The terrorist group has released a video of one of its member named Adil Ahmed Dar who actually carried out the Pulwama attack.
The 20-year-old Adil Ahmed Dar was driving the Mahindra Scorpio SUV laden with explosives that exploded the CRPF bus.
Chemical Substance used in Pulwama Attack- Initial investigation has revealed that RDX was not used in the Pulwama attack. Rather a very fine quality of Urea Ammonium Nitrate was used in the Pulwama attack. This substance is very commonly used in stone quarries in Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident of Pulwama attack is really saddening.
Pulwama attack conspiracy: The stretch on which this attack incident took place had been scrutinised earlier in the morning of February 14, 2019. Then how come such a serious attack took place after such security. Authorities have termed it as a “serious breach” of security. Authorities are of a view that the role of Pakistani Agents living in India must be looking into seriously. As without such internal help, a big attack like Pulwama was impossible.
Political reaction in Pulwama attack
It is a request for all Indians to refrain from attaching politics to Pulwama Attack. It is a time to show unity and face this serious time with strength and give a befitting reply to the terrorist group that caused this Pulwama Attack. For this we need to trust and support our political organisations. We also need that different political groups handle this incident with each others cooperation.
All political party meeting: An all political party meeting was conducted by Union home minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the Pulwama attack. Rajnath Singh presided over the meeting that was held in New Delhi on February 16, 2019.
Leaders of Congress, AIADMK, NCP, TDP, SP, TMC, AAP, BSP, BJD, Left. RJD and TRS were among those attended the meeting. The Pulwama attack was termed “dastardly attack” as per the resolution adopted in the All Party meet. The political parties have shown unity and highlighted their unity with security forces for defending India’s unity and integrity.
The resolution adopted by the All Party Meet against the Pulwama Attack is as follows: “India has during the past three decades faced the menace of cross-border terrorism. Of late, terrorism in India is being actively encouraged by the forces across the border. India has displayed both firmness and resilience in dealing with these challenges. The entire nation speaks in one voice to express its determination to fight these challenges. Today we stand united in solidarity with our security forces in fighting terrorism and in defending the unity and integrity of India”
Reaction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Pulwama Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he has now given the armed forces the freedom to punish the masterminds of the suicide bombing (Pulwama Attack) that killed 45 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. He said this at a public meeting in Maharashtra. Here are his exact words, “How, when, where and who will punish the killers and their promoters will be decided by our forces, who are capable of dealing with the situation.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said those responsible for the attack will pay “a very heavy price” and security forces will be given a free hand to deal with terrorists.

Reaction of International Communities on Pulwama attack
Over 45 countries reacted to the dastardly Pulwama attack on CRPF jawans. Here are some comments.
United States– condemned the attack and attacked Pakistan for giving shelter to terrorists. The US warned Pakistan to deny safe haven to terrorists or any terror outfits.
Russia- Russian President Vladamir Putin sent condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart President Ram Nath Kovind.
France– Condemned the attack and extended support to combat terrorism and cut the terror funding to prevent such cross-border attacks.
China– China expressed condolences and condemned the act of terror. However it still did not change its stance on Masood Azhaar, who is the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Steps taken by Indian Government after Pulwama Attack
- India has revoked the MNF status from Pakistan and hiked customs duty on import by 200%
India on February 15, 2019 revoked the most favoured nation (MFN) status in trade from Pakistan. Most Favoured Nation is a treatment accorded to a trade partner to ensure non-discriminatory trade between two countries vis-a-vis other trade partners. Pakistan was given the status of most favoured nation (MFN) in the year 1996. The removal of the same will allow India to put higher import duties on Pakistani goods.
On February 16, 2019 India has introduced 200 per cent increase in customs duty on all goods from Pakistan. The two main items imported from Pakistan are fruits and cement - Withdrawal of security of separatist leaders – The central government on February 17, 2019 issued an order to remove security of some separatist leaders namely- Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Lone, Hashim Qureshi, Fazal Haq Qureshi and Shabir Shah. The Jammu and Kashmir state government had provided them with security cover.
- Meetings with 25 countries including the P5 nations
The P5 Nations include- US, China, Russia, the UK and France. India held a meeting with 5 nations apprising them about the Pulwama terror attack. The meeting was headed by Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale who met the foreign representatives and demanded to cease all support to Pakistan. India has gained foreign support from this.
Investigation of the Pulwama attack
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team consisting of 12 members will probe the attack with support from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Tribute to Pulwama Attack Martyrs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019 paid tribute to the 40 martyrs who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack. He paid his tribute to all the 40 coffins that were draped in tricolour as he led India in paying last respects to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel killed in the Pulwama attack.
PM Modi had asked all his ministers and MPs to attend the funeral of CRPF jawans killed in the Pulwama attack in their respective states. As per schedule, Rajnath Singh was present in Uttar Pradesh, Ravi Shankar Prasad in Bihar, Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in Rajasthan and Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Punjab.
