ISRO agrees to parliamentary panel on education to help set up satellite TV classrooms

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has given its nod to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, led by Vinay Sahastrabuddhe, to provide technical assistance to start satellite TV classrooms in the country.
  • The initiative will help to bridge the learning gap due to COVID-induced lockdown.
  • The parliamentary panel had previously sought help from ISRO scientists to provide technical assistants for satellite TV classrooms for students who reported a learning gap in the school syllabus due to the COVID pandemic.
  • Now since the ISRO scientists are ready to provide satellite rights to states to start satellite TV classrooms, it will broadcast school-based educational programs, so that students can take advantage of it in cluster classrooms. This will also resolve the issue of smartphone and data connectivity, especially in the rural areas.
