International Mother Language Day: 21 February
- The International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is observed annually on 21 February to raise awareness regarding linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism.
- The day was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999 and was formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2002.
- The 2021 theme is “Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society”.
