INS Trikand participated in exercise Cutlass Express 2019
- The 18th edition of annual multinational maritime exercise Cutlass Express 2019 was held near Djibouti, Mozambique and the Seychelles from 27 Jan to 06 Feb 19.
- The Cutlass Express 2019 was sponsored by US Africa Command (AFRICOM) and conducted by US Naval Forces Africa.
- From India, INS Trikand, a front-line warship of the Indian Navy, participated in a multinational training exercise ‘CUTLASS EXPRESS – 19’. (commanded by Captain Srinivas Maddula)
- The aim of the exercise was to improve law enforcement capacity, promote regional security and progress inter-operability between the armed forces of the participating nations for the purpose of interdicting illegal maritime activity in the Western Indian Ocean.
- 15 Countries took part in Cutlass Express 2019 that includes Canada, Comoros, Djibouti, France, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Portugal, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, the Netherlands and the US.
