India's 'largest piggery mission' launched in Meghalaya

The Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Kailash Choudhury, launched India’s largest piggery mission in Meghalaya on 10 September 2020.
The project is a step towards Aatma Nirbhar (self-reliant) and would make the state self-sufficient in pork production, and thus attain self-sufficiency in food and nutrition security as well as augment farmer income
The overall cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 209 crore.
It will be funded by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
