India’s first ‘Grass Conservatory’ inaugurated in Uttarakhand’s Ranikhet

  • India’s first ‘Grass Conservatory’ has been inaugurated in Ranikhet of Almora district in Uttarakhand on November 14, 2021.
  • The “Germplasm Conservation Centre” has been built by the research wing of the Uttarakhand Forest Department over an area of 2 acres in three years.
  • The project has been funded under the Centrally sponsored CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority) scheme.
  • Around 90 different grass species have been demonstrated to display their important scientific, ecological, medicinal and cultural information.
