India to launch mobile tech platform ‘UNITE AWARE’ for UN peacekeepers in August 2021
- India is developing a mobile tech platform called ‘UNITE AWARE’, to make use of technology in the safety and security of UN peacekeepers.
- India is working on this project in collaboration with UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Operational Support.
- India is contributing $1.64 million towards the project.
- UNITE AWARE will help to increase situational awareness and provide terrain-related information to peacekeepers, because field-focused, reliable and cost-effective new technologies have become need of the hour in peacekeeping operations that are driven by practical needs of end users.
- The project UNITE AWARE will be launched in August 2021 when India will be the assuming the Presidency of the 15-nation UN Security Council.
