India to host its first Internet Governance Forum in October 2021
- India will host its first-ever Internet Governance Forum (IGF), in October 2021, that will act as a platform for discussing policies related to the Internet.
- The three-day meeting is scheduled from October 20-22, 2021, on the theme “Inclusive Internet for Digital India”.
- The Indian IGF will focus on discussions regarding policy formation related to the Internet; identify the cause that halts the free movement and progress of Internet policies; and discuss necessary steps to resolve the same one by one.
- The Indian Internet Governance Forum (IGF), is the Indian version of the United Nations-based ‘Internet Governance Forum (IGF)’, held annually since 2006.
- The platform brings together all stakeholders in the Internet governance debate, whether they represent governments, the private sector or civil society, including the technical and academic community, on an equal basis and through an open and inclusive process
